Munrothuruthu (Munro’s Island) is a picturesque place in the Kollam district of Kerala, a set of land locations surrounded by the waters of the Ashtamudi lake, making it part of the backwaters circuit. It is a well known tourist location and praised for its natural beauty. The Kollam – Ernakulam railway line passes through this area and it also has a railway station there. Sadly Munrothuruthu is facing the brunt of climate change as rising water levels threaten to inundate the area.
