A Brilliant Mirror Sunset at Puthuppally, Kerala

The sun sets over some long-abandoned paddy fields near Puthuppally in Kottayam district in Kerala reflecting the sky like a mirror in its water. Puthuppally is on the southeastern part of the district and is famous for being the home village of the erstwhile chief minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy. These low-lying fields flood often during the monsoons for its low-lying nature. They are not cultivated anymore because the owners probably do not find it to be financially remunerative anymore. Taken from the location opposite Puthupally St. John’s Jacobite church.
