The Pamba River Flows Full at Chengannur

The Pamba is arguably Keralam’s most well-known river outside the state. The river is among the biggest and longest in the state and is well-known to be part of the Sabarimala pilgrim circuit. The Pamba river flows mostly through the highlands and wooded regions of central Kerala and contributes towards creating many wetlands in the process. Here you can see it at Chengannur, the biggest town it passes by, swollen and flowing full hugging its tree-lined banks as the bridge carrying the MC Road braves it’s current. The railway bridge from where this was taken comes just after the Chengannur Railway station. The river is famous for overflowing its banks during the famous Kerala monsoons as you can see it here when it transforms into a carpet of light brownish muddy water that looks like chocolate milk.
