(New) Chengannur Railway Station!

The 12624 Chennai – Thiruvananthapuram Mail leaves Chengannur Railway Station on a cold, damp and cloudy morning. Chengannur, on the the Ernakulam – Kottayam – Kayamkulam – Trivandrum stretch is where the double line ends coming from Kayamkulam on the very high traffic Kottayam line towards Ernakulam. The station once had only two lines and two narrow platforms, but today has five lines and three wide platforms as the result of line doubling. The two lines on the left did not exist before, neither did the wide platform as it does now.
