The last days of the Kottayam Passenger on Diesel traction

The 56304 Passenger train from Nagercoil to Kottayam hauled by Erode diesel loco shed’s WDM3D #11106 stops at Sasthamkotta railway station. This train ran on a diesel locomotive on a fully electrified route for years. Incidentally, traction of this train was shifted to a WAP4 electric locomotive a couple of weeks after this picture was taken signalling the end of an era as this was among the last regularly diesel-hauled trains in the Trivandrum division. This train has also been converted to an express service.
