The Chennai Mail at Kottayam on a Gloomy Evening

The legendary 12624 Trivandrum Central – MGR Chennai Central Chennai Superfast Mail led by Erode’s WAP7 #30555 waits on Platform 1 at Kottayam railway station on a heavily overcast evening. The day was cold, dark, wet and miserable with everything appearing in a gloomy grey. Sometimes you see colour only in a vehicle of escape that will take you to a better place away from this gloom and doom. Kottayam railway station is undergoing a rebuild and expansion. It has now six platforms compared to the earlier three. A second entry is under construction along with an exit to the Nagampadom private bus station.
