Palakkad/Coimbatore Countryside Scenery

A row of Palmyra trees stand tall in the wind by the side of the Coimbatore – Palakkad railway line in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. The scenery is typical of Coimbatore and Palakkad districts and rest of Kongu Nadu, with green fields interspersed with Palm trees against the backdrop of the mighty Sahyadris or the Western Ghats in a sunny setting. The Palmyra aka the Borassus flabellifer, the Asian Palmyra palm or Toddy palm is the state tree of the state of Tamil Nadu, India, and produce the delicious Nongu nuts.
