A Ferry Glides Across a Dazzlingly Blue Ashtamudi Lake

A ferry (jankar) service glides across the Ashtamudi Lake in Kollam district, Kerala, as seen from the railway bridge spanning the lake. The lake is a shimmering blue, fringed by Kerala’s ubiquitous coconut green, all reflecting the brilliant afternoon sky of many shades of blue, awash with sumptuous clouds of many types and sizes. The ferry leaves a long wake, neatly cutting across the lake surface, silent and clear as a pane of bright blue glass.
