New KSRTC 9-meter Eicher Ordinary Bus
The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a new line of buses for running its Ordinary services. They are procured from Eicher Motors built on their Starline platform with a 3.3 liter diesel engine turning out 350hp. Unlike the current full-length (10.5 meter) buses used for Ordinary services these are shorter at only 9 meters length. It is speculated that these will be used mainly on village routes and smaller towns with narrow roads and lower capacity. This is the first time KSRTC has procured fully built buses for running Ordinary services. The red and silver livery of the new ordinary buses is oddly reminiscent of Karnataka KSRTC’s Sarige class of buses. They should’ve been in the classic yellow and red.
