The Palaruvi Express on the First Day Morning of its Regular Service
The 16791 Punalur-Palakkad Palaruvi Express stands at Karunagappally railway station on a slightly misty morning of the first day of its regular run. Erode’s WAP4 22603 heads it, bearing the remnants of its inaugural run the day before. The Palaruvi Express, though called so, runs like a passenger train between Kollam and Kottayam, stopping at all stations, even at places like Ochira and Perinad, with only 11 general unreserved coaches and no AC coach. “Palaruvi” litreally means “stream of milk” in Malayalam. It was introduced to take some load off the Venad Express.
