The Ashtamudi Lake in all her Glory!
The waters of the Ashtamudi Lake calmly lap at the shore near Randaam Kutty off the Kollam – Thenkasi National Highway NH 744 (formerly NH 208) in Kerala. This is the extreme southern end of the southernmost arm of the lake, which is the second largest wetland ecosystem in Kerala and the mainstay of the Kollam district. The lake, shaped like a palmtree extends inwards from the Arabian sea for around 20 kilometers and covers 1,700 square kilometers in area. Needless to say, the Ashtamudi Kayal presents some of the most beautiful sceneries in Kerala and is one of its hottest tourist spots with resorts, houseboats et al galore.
