The legendary Bangalore – Thiruvalla Super Deluxe Air Bus RSC 675 of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) seen at Madiwala bus stop in Bangalore one chilly evening, waiting for its passengers to show up. The bus runs the Salem – Coimbatore – Palakkad – Thrissur – Ernakulam – Alappuzha – Changanaserry route. It departs Bangalore at 1830 from Mysore Road Satellite bus station, 1930 from Madiwala to reach Ernakulam at 0615 and Tiruvalla by 0800. RSC 675 was withdrawn some months after this picture was taken and was replaced with RPC 900.
The ‘poshest’ and most upscale location of not just Dubai, the UAE or the Middle East but maybe the world, the Dubai Marina lies still at night, glittering like a jewel. The towers are residential apartments of the Jumeirah Beach Residences, one side offering a view of the Marina and the other of the sea! Seen parked are yachts while lights reflect off the calm waters of the Marina. A long exposure photograph, this took quite some editing to come out this way.
A small part of Dubai’s “Box Park” as seen at night. The Box Park, called “Container City” by some residents of the Malabari variety, is actually exactly that, located along the stretch of the posh Al Wasl street that lies in between Jumeirah and Sheikh Zayed Road, parallel to both. The Box Park is an outdoor linear shopping mall whose structures are made up of used shipping containers or in the shape of boxes, housing very expensive cafes, boutiques and the like. You can see the Yamaha Cafe in this photo. These are vividly lit at night in many colors and patterns and the entire place is quite an experience to visit.
The night view from the observation deck at the Jebel Hafeet mountain near Al-Ain in Eastern UAE on the border with Oman. The place is one of the favorite getaways for people from all over the southern Gulf region. Sadly, the top of the mountain is nothing but a large parking area filled with cars all the time. The surroundings and everything else looks yellow because the entire area is lit by yellow sodium vapor lamps. It would be awesome if these were to be replaced by daylight fluorescent lamps, as it would bring out the various colors of the rocks ranging from white to sand to yellow to orange to red. This is a long exposure photo, light trains of cars can also be seen.
Bangalore’s Brigade World Trade Center office tower located in the Brigade Gateway complex at Rajajinagar, North Bangalore as seen at night. The building has 32 floors and houses offices of Amazon.com, ABB and KPMG among others. Offices of employees working late can be seen, as much as can be parts of Orion Mall and the center courtyard of the Brigade Gateway complex. To the right can be seen the residential apartment block casting a shadow. Completely uber-posh place, this.
Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC)’s Volvo B9R Multi Axle bus RS 787 “Dreamliner” of Kottayam deport doing the Bangalore – Kottayam schedule at a rest stop at Koratti near Angamali stretches out in its full length. This is one of the only 10 Volvo coach buses owned by the Kerala KSRTC compared to some 200+ of its competitor, the much bigger and better managed Karnataka KSRTC. This is one of the two Volvos of the Kottayam depot, the other one being the accident-survivor (thank God) RS 788.
