The majestic sun goes down over the distant hills in a blaze of furious white and yellow glory, painting the surroundings in a haze of orange and gold as huge high-tension electricity towers stand dwarfed on the foot of the hills silhouetted against the fury of the sunset. This scene is from the fields of central Karnataka just before Davangere where empty land so quiet and calm stretches out for kilometers as far as the eye can see. The sunset and the setting of this serene landscape presents an incredible feeling of tranquility that makes memories of the tiring city-dwelling life seem so far away…
We have Tequila sunrises, then we have Mandya sunsets. The glorious view after the sun had set with its reflecting rays painting the sky gold. Taken with a Sony RX100 from the 56213 Chamarajanagar – Mysore – Bangalore – Tirupati Fast Passenger train just after Mandya on the Mysore – Bangalore railway line.
Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC)’s Volvo B7R bus after a minor accident which involved a collision with a truck in the broken, terribly curvy and dangerous Shiradi Ghat road (Highway) on the way from Mangalore to Bangalore. An overloaded platform truck carrying huge logs was being driven rashly on the wrong side of the road and one of the logs hanging from the side of the truck smashed the side windows leaving a gaping hole. Thanks to the nimble handling and power of the Volvo, the alert driver was able to maneuver the bus out of a full-frontal collision path. Fortunately there were no injuries as there was no one sitting in that seat. I was a passenger in this bus. This happened in 2008.
(PS: Another same type of accident on the same road. Those people were not so lucky 🙁 )
The beautiful, pristine looking Gokarna Om Beach seen up close with its sugary white sands and clear blue waters and sky. The beach was totally empty, uncrowded, uncluttered and beautiful. The sun was shining hot and bright, the breeze was light and the weather heavenly. This was long before everyone discovered Gokarna and has now turned into a mess. Gokarna is on the Konkan Coast in North Western Karnataka between Honnavara and Karwar close to the Goa border. Gokarna is also a pilgrimage center, known for its Lord Mahabaleshwar Temple. Gokarna is one of Karnataka’s premier tourist destinations today with its dazzling natural beauty
Murudeshwara, in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka is primarily known as a pilgrimage center for devotees of Lord Shiva, with its famous Shiva temple and the World’s second tallest statue of Lrd Shive. But it is also a very scenic and mostly unknown tourist spot with a pristine beach and stunning, breath-taking scenery as part of the Konkan coast of which the Karnataka coastline is part of. Murudeshwara is part of that circuit, along with Maravanthe and Gokarna, where nature will greet you in all her unspoilt glory. The Western Ghats rise in the background.
The famed Om Beach at Gokarna, Uttara Kannada District, Karnataka. This is almost Karnataka’s best kept secret when it comes to tourist destinations, though it is a hot favorite on the international hippie trail circuit. At a distance of 500 kilometers from Bangalore and 100 km from Madgaon, Goa, Gokarna is a must-visit location. The winter months are the best bet. The water and the sky are both untouched and unpolluted, a heavenly shade of dark aquamarine… Part of the breath taking Konkan Circuit.
