A massive Lockheed-Martin C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft with tail number KC-3806 of the Indian Air Force on display at the Bangalore Aeroshow 2013. India had bought 6 C-130J Super Hercules planes from the US manufacturer at a cost of about Rs.1000 Crore each. But one of them had crashed near Gwalior on March 24 2014. These four-turboprop-engined planes are among the world’s most technologically advanced aircraft which are highly maneuverable just like jet fighters, despite their size. Presently India has given orders for 6 more C-130Js.

Happy Air Force Day! On this day, October 08, which is celebrated as Air Force Day every year, I salute all the men and women of the Indian Air Force for keeping our skies safe for us. We owe you one, heroes! The photo is a tribute for them, a shot of the Suryakiran Air Acrobatics Team of the Indian Air Force flying in perfect formation with contrails of the Tricolor trailing behind them, from the Bangalore Air Show 2011. Also, Oct 8 2012, the day of posting this, marks 80 years of the Indian Air Force (IAF)! *Salute*
