The Dubai Metro against Marsa Dubai, all in Blue and Gold!

The Dubai Metro train number 5060 running the “red” line from Rashidiya to Jebel Ali glides past the Marsa Dubai area, which consists of the Dubai Marina and surroundings on the left side and the Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) on the right. The fierce midsummer desert sun shines down a bit muted, and the afternoon sunlight reflecting off the dust in the air and buildings in the area give the surroundings and the haze in the air an ethereal golden glow, accentuating the gold and yellows used in buildings, except on the ones that are mainly blue. This blue and gold contrast is what gives Dubai its exotic feel! The station is Jumeirah Lake Towers and on the extreme left, you can see the round brown structure of the posh Dubai Marina Mall.

The Majestic Vidhana Soudha Silhouetted by the Setting Sun

The majestic Vidhana Soudha, the colossal neo-Dravidian granite building that houses the legislative seat of the Government of Karnataka, Bangalore’s most famous building and among its most prominent landmarks is silhouetted by the glory of the setting sun after a blazing hot day. The magnificent dome of the Vidhana Soudha building, capped by the Sarnath Lion Capital partly obscures the furious blaze of the sun at sunset and stands awash in the orange-golden glow, the intricately carved granite toppings of the walls jut out into the sky, the huge granite pillars and edifices calmly retreating into the dusk. The tricolor can be seen gently fluttering in the breeze.

This scene is from the fields of central Karnataka just before Davangere where empty land so quiet and calm stretches out for kilometers as far as the eye can see. The sunset and the setting of this serene landscape presents an incredible feeling of tranquility that makes memories of the tiring city-dwelling life seem so far away…
