A Volvo 8400 City Bus built on a B7RLE chassis at Manyata Tech Park, Nagawara in Bangalore, India. The bus belongs to the Bangalore Metropolitan Transportation Corporation (BMTC). This orange livery is a rarity with only four buses sporting it, the remaining having the standard red. This bus was intended for a “Hop-on-Hop-off” circular service through the central business district, a scheme that sadly did not work out. However, thankfully BMTC left the livery intact. I hope to capture all the buses with this livery. The bus is running the famous Hebbal – Silkboard 500D Route.
Kerala State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) Volvo B7RLE City bus JNK 37 stationed at Muvattupuzha KSRTC bus station on a very hot and sunny afternoon. JNK 37 would service route number 650 to Ernakulam from Muvattupuzha via Kolenchery. Volvo AC buses of the KSRTC are orange in color as opposed to red of the Bangalore ones. They are called “Low Floor AC” in Kerala rather than Volvo AC. Though the bus is a city bus, KSRTC runs them on medium intra-district routes as well. This is JNK 37. See JNK 38 here.
JNK 38 City Volvo bus of the Kerala State Transport Corporation (KSRTC) seen at South (Jos) Junction on a sweaty evening. These bright orange buses were procured by the JNNURM scheme and are run by KSRTC. The bus belings to the Ernakulam City depot. The Volvo 8400 bus is built on a B7RLE chassis and is the same model seen in all other Indian cities like Bangalore.
Two BMTC Volvo 8400 335E city services on the Bangalore Old Airport Road HAL Main Gate signal junction. The bus on the left was stopped while the other one was running. Managed to capture the scene while they were exactly abreast of each other from another 335E which was stuck in traffic on the opposite side. Volvo route 335E runs Majestic Bus station – MG Road – Domlur – HAL – Marathahalli – KTPO – ITPL – Kadugodi.
The interiors of a brand new Volvo 8400 (B7RLE) of the BMTC. These buses have got a beautiful and appetizing red theme for their interiors with deep red seat cover fabric sporting yellow and blue designs on them nicely complementing the yellow grabrails. The bus shown here is a 317A which runs from Majestic (KBS) to Hoskote via Brigade/MG Road, Ulsoor, Indiranagar, Tin Factory and KR Puram.
Candid picture of a A 500D Silk Board – Hebbal BMTC Volvo 8400 City bus resting under a small tree along empty roads waiting for passengers at the Marathahalli bus stop opposite Kalamandir, also known as “Marathahlli Bridge”, one out of the seven Marathahalli Bridge bus stops! The road was astoundingly free as the clear tarmac shows on that day,
