The 12258 Trivandrum Kochuveli – Bangalore Yeshwantpur Garib Rath Express headed by old-timer KJM WDM3A #18824 waits patiently in abeyance to a red signal on a foggy and sunny morning at Anekal Road railway station near Bangalore to let an oncoming train pass, looking ahead through the fog. The tracks ahead were completely obscured by fog but it lifted soon after. Just 35 km from Bangalore, Anekal is a world of difference compared to the city.
A Gulmohar flowering tree (Delonix Regia) stands in full beautiful bloom at the Anekal Road railway station just outside Bangalore, Karnataka. The station is located close to the border of Karnataka with Tamil Nadu on the Bangalore – Hosur -Salem line. It is heartening to see that the Indian Railways have a policy of building platforms keeping their flora on it intact. A very visible example of this is the Bangalore East railway station. Gulmohar trees are very common in Bangalore and are a lasting representative image of the city. Their fiery red blooms always add a subtle charm to the city.
