Ernakulam Twins at Ernakulam North

The double-headed 56362 Ernakulam Jn – Nilambur Road passenger train stands at Ernakulam Town station one fine rain-cooled morning. The train is headed by two MU’ed WDM3A locomotives of the Ernakulam ERS Diesel Loco Shed (DLS) #17894 and #14125, standing glistening in their fresh, scrubbed orange-cream livery, in sharp contrast to the lush green canopy of the rain tree. The Ernakulam DLS is one of the smallest in the country, whose locos are always fresh and well-maintained. The Southern Railway neglects the DLS like it does everything about railways in Kerala. #17894 which started its life in 1986 as a WDM2 at Erode, is no longer in service.
