The ‘poshest’ and most upscale location of not just Dubai, the UAE or the Middle East but maybe the world, the Dubai Marina lies still at night, glittering like a jewel. The towers are residential apartments of the Jumeirah Beach Residences, one side offering a view of the Marina and the other of the sea! Seen parked are yachts while lights reflect off the calm waters of the Marina. A long exposure photograph, this took quite some editing to come out this way.
A close up photo of one of the many magnificent chandeliers adorning the ceilings of the Sheikh Zayed grand mosque at Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This Chandelier brings out the contrast between the architecture of the strictly Islamic ways of the mosque building with that of the decorations itself.
The Village is a part of the enormous sprawling Dubai Mall, located on its ground floor, consisting of a wide, straight pathway flanked by designer stores on both sides. And a thousand colorful umbrellas are suspended from above to form the ceiling of the pathway, creating a mesmerizing cowl of color! Here are some of those umbrellas. Being an open area, this is the perfect place to head to do when you are tired of walking around in AC to do some window-shopping in open air.
Dubai’s famed skyscrapers stand tall as the skyline of Dubai’s most prolific part of its financial district, Downtown Dubai, an area of very upscale hotels and office buildings, centered around the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall. This photo of Dubai in its myriad colors was taken from the Dubai Fountain viewing area of the Dubai Mall, across the manmade lake that surrounds the Burj Khalifa, the shallow water of which reflects the colors of the lights of the towers. Great view! If the photo looks oversaturated, that was purposeful, it looks striking on LCD HD screens.
A small part of Dubai’s “Box Park” as seen at night. The Box Park, called “Container City” by some residents of the Malabari variety, is actually exactly that, located along the stretch of the posh Al Wasl street that lies in between Jumeirah and Sheikh Zayed Road, parallel to both. The Box Park is an outdoor linear shopping mall whose structures are made up of used shipping containers or in the shape of boxes, housing very expensive cafes, boutiques and the like. You can see the Yamaha Cafe in this photo. These are vividly lit at night in many colors and patterns and the entire place is quite an experience to visit.
The Dubai Mall is the greatest attractions of Dubai. The Mall is really a combination of many malls, and “The Souk” is one of those, which is a part of The Dubai Mall with shopping areas designed with architecture to give a feel of a medieval Arabian bazaar while housing the most contemporary of brands. The central area of The Souk, shown in this photo, has jewelry shops lining either side while hand cats selling silks make up the central area. Like everything else in Dubai, this is also richly appointed with intricate, minute attention to detail. The Dubai Mall. Nothing quite like it!
