A run-down container carrier truck carrying a Maersk container takes a break at the peripheries of Bangalore, India. An overloaded bike with two guys and two kids and no helmets meanwhile cooly ride past it unperturbed on the wrong side of the unmarked road. What we see here is quintessential semi-urban India.
The sun has set over the sea but the last rays remain… This beautiful sunset was captured on a calm, lovely evening over the serene waters of the Vembanad lake at Kochi harbor with boats bobbing in the foreground at the Marine Drive promenade, Ernakulam, Kerala. And today is Thiruvonam. Wishing everyone a very Happy Onam!
Cars “swim” through a waterlogged MC Road near Tiruvalla in Kerala. The state of the “lifeline” road of central south Kerala is deplorable and this is not the only location where the road is in this condition, rather it is one of many. Deep gorges hide beneath the water, holding up traffic and causing long traffic jams and misery. Only a small rain is enough for the road to turn into a waterway. Maybe they are trying to promote water tourism advertising the road as a backwater where you can enjoy driving through them instead of hiring expensive houseboats.
Kerala State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) Superfast bus RSC 587 of Adoor rumbles along the MC Road between Kaladi and Ankamali. This photo was taken inside the bus through the front windshield over the driver’s shoulder, where the front-row seat view through the plate glass window shows the commanding driver’s position, exceptionally good road and the unruly traffic on it, where everyone drives wherever they please and blame others. The front-row is also the best place to enjoy a KSRTC Superfast ride as these buses are notorious for their speed and maneuvering which is unfortunately a necessity. This Central workshops-built bus with registration no KL15 A 45 is also one if KSRTC’s newest.
Two BMTC Volvo 8400 335E city services on the Bangalore Old Airport Road HAL Main Gate signal junction. The bus on the left was stopped while the other one was running. Managed to capture the scene while they were exactly abreast of each other from another 335E which was stuck in traffic on the opposite side. Volvo route 335E runs Majestic Bus station – MG Road – Domlur – HAL – Marathahalli – KTPO – ITPL – Kadugodi.
The infamous traffic jam at Marathahalli under the bridge on the Ring Road on a pleasant rainy evening. Marathahalli is one of the worst places in Bangalore, a concrete jungle with perennial traffic jams, narrow roads, crowded everything, polluted air and bad infrastructure. The jam pictured below is a common everyday occurrence but people are cool about it. They will not let go of their cars even if it meant the end of the World. It is a privilege being stuck in a jam in your OWN car, no?
